After changing a steering wheel, preparing for a vehicle inspection comes down to a few clear checks. The airbag, dashboard warnings and the functions fitted to the steering wheel are the main points to review before your appointment.
Check the airbag and its warning light
The original airbag module remains the reference in an appropriate configuration. At start-up, the airbag warning follows its normal cycle and then goes out. If it remains visible, have the connection and stored fault checked before the appointment.
Fit the steering wheel with the ignition off, the battery disconnected and after the discharge time specified by the manufacturer.
Check the dashboard warnings
Look at the dashboard at start-up and after a short drive. Safety warnings should return to their normal operation. When required, the steering-angle sensor may need the manufacturer’s stated procedure after fitting.
Test the steering-wheel controls
Use the audio, phone, cruise-control and paddle functions fitted to your car. An inactive control deserves a check of the fitting or configuration. Heated steering and hands-on detection should have been identified when the project was prepared.

Keep the manufacturing invoice with your vehicle documents. It records the nature of the completed configuration.
Prepare the car before the appointment
