The airbag is the first point to clarify before changing a steering wheel. In the usual configuration, the module remains the one fitted to your car. It is transferred to the new steering wheel from the family matched to the vehicle.
The original module stays at the centre of the project
You retain your original airbag. It is transferred with its connector and mounting points to the new steering wheel. The cosmetic cover can change with the chosen configuration while the module remains the component intended for your car.
This keeps the system already associated with the vehicle and focuses the personalisation on the rim, materials, stitching and finishes.
How do you prepare the transfer?
Start with the ignition off. Disconnect the battery and follow the manufacturer’s discharge time before working. The supplied guide accompanies the fitting steps, and a professional can complete the work if you prefer.
After installation, check the airbag warning-light cycle and the planned steering-wheel controls.
Good to know
Your current steering wheel stays in the car during production. The new one is made from a new original-manufacturer base, keeping your vehicle available until delivery.
The centre cover and controls
The visible centre section can be selected to match the materials and overall design. It receives the original module in the suitable configuration. Buttons can be reused from the current steering wheel or selected as new OEM buttons where available.
Paddles, heating and hands-on detection need to be declared before production, as they help define the components to retain.
How do you check the right steering-wheel family?
Prepare the exact model, generation code, year and front-facing photos of the steering wheel. Add close-ups of buttons, paddles and heating controls when present. The VIN completes this assessment by identifying the vehicle precisely.
